We just got back from a couple of weeks in Japan (amazing trip!),  so I thought I would share a few pictures -

Tokyo from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, with Mt Fuji in the distance
Skytree Tower in Tokyo, along the Sumida River (near where we stayed for a week in Tokyo)
Great Buddha of Kamakura

Beautiful fall gardens in Tokyo -

Moat around the Imperial Palace, Tokyo
Kyoto
Nara
Himeji Castle
Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dome
Hiroshima Peace Garden (chains of origami cranes) - one of the many reminders of the importance of peace.
Inari Shrine, Kyoto (near where we stayed for a week in Kyoto)

There are so many Painted Lady Butterflies around (as well as Honey Bees and Lady Bugs), they all seem to really love the Sedum.

Our oldest son built a forge from an old propane tank - it still needs the insulation (apparently asking for a Damascus steel kitchen knife is a bit premature).

We did some canning for the first time today - it worked so well, and was much easier than I had imagined (this is a cucumber relish).

This long weekend we went for a hike at Spirit Sands (a desert about two hours drive from home).

My favourite bike ride - just the sound of the birds, and the noise our bike tires make on the dirt.

For the past 23 days there has been an annual spinning event happening on Ravelry, called the Tour de Fleece (like Tour de France, just a different kind of spinning), this is all the yarn that I spun - just over 3km of yarn!

This baby robin was so still hoping we wouldn't notice her/him, which we didn't when we first sat down right next to her/him - gave us a bit of a surprise.
