Day 160

We have had rain for the past two weeks - we are watching our summer out the window, just like winter!

Day 159

I am trying something new (to me) in the garden this year - ground cherries.

The leaves are lovely colours, and there are pretty little flowers.

The fruit is enclosed in little husks (they will turn brown when the fruit inside is ripe).

Day 158

A day for car maintenance.

Day 156

I have been knitting a "Mystery Knit Along" - lots of fun!

Joanne

Day 155

This is the first time I have grown Calla Lilies - so pretty.

Day 154

Two more roses have started blooming.

Joanne

Day 152

I was only away for a couple of days, but all kinds of new flowers started blooming -

 French Lilac
 Begonia
 Perennial Salvia
Rose

Day 151

The trunk show and class went wonderfully. It was lots of fun for me, and the women were so welcoming, and talented!

Day 150

I organized just some of my quilts for a trunk show. I am off to the western part of the province for the show this evening, and to teach a free motion quilting class on Saturday - I am really looking forward to it.

Day 149

I finished making teaching samples today.

Day 148

After 10pm last night - almost the longest day of the year.

Day 147

More blooms - Lilac,

and Diablo Nine Bark.

Joanne

Day 145

There are big puddles everywhere - we have had steady rain for two days, something we never have (the grass needed the water).

Day 144

Our home - June, 2014.

Day 143

The full moon last evening.

Day 142

The moon, about 10pm last night.

Joanne

Day 140

Making pasta for supper - it was yummy!

Day 139

My oldest son is mowing lawns for the summer. Today he was mowing at a water treatment plant and  came across some Canada geese families - so many babies! He took this video for me (hard to see the babies in this video, just looks like the ground is moving in front of the parents).

Day 138

Scattered showers today.

Joanne

Day 137

There was a risk of frost on Friday night, so the tomatoes got covered.
Luckily there was no frost, +6℃ overnight.

Day 136

Our neighbour's cat comes for a visit everyday. He is so friendly and gentle, we love having him over.
The neighbour was surprised we let him in the house - he presses his face against the screen door and meows, who could resist?

Day 135

I love how water beads on the sedums after the rain.

❤Joanne

Day 134

The first of the lilacs to bloom - this one is a Beauty of Moscow Lilac that we planted last year, so it is the first time we have seen it bloom - a double bloom (and it smells amazing).

Joanne

Day 133

I found out this morning that the little fence around the vegetable garden must have a hole!

Day 132

Usually I don't plant the gardens until the beginning of June (we sometimes have frost in June). After the long winter and late spring, I thought that this year would be even later, but that wasn't the case! Summer came in just over a week ago, with a week of about 30℃ temperatures, and I planted my vegetable gardens last Thursday. The first seeds to sprout are radishes!
That is very lumpy, heavy clay soil.

Day 131

Such a difference from last week (this is the maple tree).
