Day 344

We were surprised to see a flock of geese!

Joanne

Day 343

We finally took the car through a car wash!

Joanne

Day 342

Stalker parents? Our son had an hour long (bumpy) drive, on busy streets, to get to where he had to do some snow clearing, of course we had to make sure he was OK! He did say that he saw one accident, everyone was fine, and he wasn't involved.

Day 341

The rabbit was snacking on the thorny rose bushes.
Extreme cold temperatures now (-30℃ with -40℃ windchill) - hopefully he is keeping warm.

Joanne

Day 340

My favourite visitors - the gray partridges (you can tell it is cold again).

Joanne

Day 338

Merry Christmas!
Photo from our walk this afternoon.

Joanne

Day 337

Christmas Eve is time for traditional food at our home - tourtière (French Canadian meat pies)!

Joanne

Day 336

Over a week ago the temperature warmed up and the snow was sticky, snowmen popped up all over our village - I thought this group was nice.
It is very rare to be able to make snowmen here - it is usually too cold and the snow won't stick together, more like ice. It has been fun to see all the snowmen.

Day 335

A present for under the tree! This one came from the other side of the world (thanks Raewyn!).

Joanne

Day 333

Christmas vacation is time for ping-pong at our home!

Joanne

Day 332

A week of spinning finished!
I had lots of fun trying different ways to dye and spin - it is the first time I have dyed and spun yarn with no project in mind.
Painting, gradient, and spot dyeing; fingering weight, sport weight and worsted weight; 2-ply, 3-ply and chain plied - they all started as the same 100g, white, merino/silk roving.
This week has given me the confidence to dye and spin enough wool for a sweater.

Joanne

Day 331

I'm grateful for warm clothes that make walking outside at this time of the year pleasant.

Joanne

Day 330

The Christmas display at the John Deer dealership.

Joanne

Day 329

Our home December 2014.
Warm weather over the weekend melted lots of the snow, then we had a little bit of snow yesterday.

Joanne

Day 328

The last 3 bundles ready for spinning.
I thought this photo, taken with a flash, looked like everything was floating.

Joanne

Day 326

I finished the first skein!
I bought 6 bundles of fibre recently, and the plan is to dye, spin and then put them up for sale.
This one took about 10 hours to spin.

Joanne

Day 324

Another little visitor this morning.
The strong wind was blowing her/his fur.

Joanne

Day 323

Partridges passing through.

Joanne

Day 322

Amazing sun dogs this afternoon!
This photo was taken with my iPod, through a dirty car window, going 100km/h on the highway - so, not ideal photographic conditions, but I didn't want to miss this opportunity.

Joanne

Day 321

All our stockings are different types of embroidery.
My Father stitched the cross stitch one, and I made the others.

Joanne

Day 320

We decorated the Christmas tree today.
We like to collect ornaments while on vacations - these are from Germany, France and Italy.

Joanne

Day 319

A frosty morning, with interesting clouds.

Joanne

Day 318

A jack rabbit trying to figure out how to get to the other side of the fence.

Joanne

Day 315

A second, smaller flock of partridges arrived at the bird feeder this morning.
A few minutes later there was lots of chirping, and the large flock came around the corner of the house.

You can see the small flock running away!
It is amazing how territorial they are.

Joanne

Day 314

Snowball collected in a dill seed head.

Joanne

Day 313

My oldest son hard at work clearing snow.

Joanne

Day 312

The partridges are back for the winter.

Joanne

Day 311

A colder, and snowier walk than we thought it was going to be.
Trying out selfies!

Joanne

Day 310

Beautiful sunrise on the way to school this morning.

Joanne

Day 309

It is the book fair this week where I volunteer - this is one of the highlights of the year for me because I get to see all the children, and how much they have changed and grown.

Joanne

Day 308

Our furnace quite working again last night, luckily it was only -12℃.
All fixed now, with more modifications and parts replaced (it doesn't like the cold and breaks down every year - even though it is only 5 years old - not made for our climate!). -30℃ temperatures forecasted.

Joanne

Day 306

Freezing rain on the window.

Joanne

Day 305

I had forgotten to show the scarf I wove last week.

Joanne

Day 304

They have put up the Christmas lights in our town.

Joanne

Day 303

Having fun playing a new video game together.

Joanne

Day 302

More snow this morning, then sun and high winds later.

He was happy to clear the driveway.

I thought the little balls of snow rolling in to the ditch looked interesting.

The drifts are really starting to grow, and it is only the middle of November!

Joanne

Day 301

Inspired by Vickie's photo yesterday, I tried to take a picture of the falling snow tonight (this was with a long exposure).

More sparkly snow!
