Day 283

Ready for more teaching this weekend!
Talk tonight and classes tomorrow.

Joanne

Day 282

Today I finally wrote a post on my "main" blog
It has been over 2 months since my last post and it ended up being one of the longest posts!

Joanne

Day 281

I am amazed at how the scarf softened up after washing and ironing (it was like a placemat when it came off the loom).

Joanne

Day 280

The fringe twister I ordered came in today, so I could finish my woven scarf.

Joanne

Day 279

So many pins!
Blocking another scarf/shawlette.
The pattern is Henslowe - a wonderful, easy pattern, that only has about 5 rows of purl, the rest are knit, with some yarn overs and knit 2 togethers, plus the shawl is reversible. I think it will be a very practical scarf for the winter.

Day 278

That time of the year again - time to switch to the snow tires.

Joanne

Day 277

Fall fertilizing.
We have been enjoying incredibly warm fall weather these past few weeks.

Joanne

Day 276

Strong winds today blew leaves up along the chain link fence.

Joanne

Day 274

Hand spun yarn ready for weaving.

Joanne

Day 273

I couldn't resist another beautiful sunset!
I love the dark shapes of the trees against the sky.

Joanne

Day 272

Beautiful fall evening!

Joanne

Day 271

Finished weaving samples (the large one is 9"x23").
I think weaving is going to be an enjoyable new hobby!

Joanne

Day 270

Weaving is going well (ignore the mistake!).

Joanne

Day 269

Our home, October 2014.

Joanne

Day 268

Cleaning my new toy!
One of the students in my FMQ class gave me her old weaving loom - so kind!
I realize now that there is a lot to learn about weaving, and it is always fun to learn new things!

Joanne

Day 267

A good day for over dyeing.

The fibre started out as this (I bought a bundle of mill end fibres for a good price, but some just needed a change).

Joanne

Day 266

Always amazing to see.

Joanne

Day 265

Over 500m of merino and silk, 2 ply yarn (4 days of spinning!), 100g skein - so not quite the lace weight I had hoped for.
I have no plans for this yarn, it was just a joy to spin the fibre.

Joanne

Day 264

The cat has been visiting us for two years and today was the first time he has every taken a nap here.
It is Thanksgiving weekend and there seems to be lots of activity at his place, so maybe he just needed a break.

Joanne

Day 263

Spinning silken thread - well really a silk and merino blend, just really fine. This is the first ply of what I am hoping will be a 2 ply lace weight yarn.

Spinning is quite an addictive hobby - it is very relaxing.

Joanne

Day 262

Yesterday those leaves were still on that tree!

Joanne

Day 261

Frosty morning - surprisingly last night was the first real frost of the season.

Joanne

Day 259

Every thing is dry and back together after the little flood!
Everything happens for a reason, and the storage room really needed a good clear out, so it is better than ever.

Joanne

Day 258

The onions did fantastic in the garden this year!

Joanne

Day 257

Drying out after a little flood - the washing machine leaked into the basement.
Luckily no big damage, and it is a good time to have a clean out!

Joanne

Day 256

So many geese coming in to land, I was pleased to see that they hadn't all flown south as we had some snow today!

Joanne

Day 255

I finished another scarf - this one was a mystery knit along for September.

Joanne

Day 254

My husband bought a telescope, and had a curious little 'helper' when he put it together.

Joanne

BTW - the class went really well yesterday!

Day 253

All ready for my class tonight - I am so thrilled to be teaching locally!
